A Little Something New & Fresh

Lately, I have been obsessing over skincare and makeup products and have slowly been trying to make changes on what I use on a daily basis. This urge to chuck all of my old products and start fresh is due to all of the wonderful, new products that are out there and also from watching Tanya Burr on YouTube regularly. She's a British makeup artist who is actually friends with Millie from Made in Chelsea, one of my favourite shows, so naturally I am addicted to her YouTube channel. So I have slowly but surely been buying some new products and as a result I must share with you two of my favourite brands: KORRES skincare products and Bourjois Paris makeup.

I have always loved KORRES and have a few of their coloured lip balms and face creams, but I have just recently had the pleasure of receiving a few more products as a gift: the Body Butter in Jasmine, the Facial Fluid Gel Cleanser in White Tea, and the Pomegranate Toner. I've heard amazing things about these products and I'm going to try them today before getting ready to go to my friend's birthday party this evening.

Along with KORRES, I have completely fallen for Bourjois makeup. I started off with a sparkly eyeshadow in a light cream/golden colour and loved it so much I decided to buy the sparkly, dark charcoal grey, and the sparkly plum as well. They seem extremely sparkly, but after lightly wetting my brush and then adding the eyeshadow onto my lid it comes on as dewy and shimmery. It's honestly just absolutely amazing! Lately, I've been buying so much eyeshadow trying to find the best ones, I've gone through NARS and Laura Mercier, but the colours and textures of Bourjois eyeshadows are just incredible. I also got the illuminator that I put on my upper cheekbones and on my temples, which is so flattering and adds a perfect amount of glow to my face.

I truly recommend these products and also Tanya Burr on YouTube, she's just so friendly and personable and her makeup tips are awesome and easy to do!

Ready for Summer

Photobucket

I'm slowly but surely changing my mindset from Winter to Summer. I've started jogging outside instead of in the gym, I've been cooking healthier meals, and I've been buying a bunch of whites, corals, and teals to liven up my wardrobe. I'm so excited for this summer, especially since it's the first time probably in my entire life where I am staying in Montreal for the entire summer without leaving for a vacation. Even though not taking a vacation sounds awful, this will give me the opportunity to actually enjoy all that Montreal has to offer in the summertime! There are so many festivals, good food, amazing parties, and outside activities going on in Montreal that I am so excited to experience. I am moving out into the city in the next month or two and I have so many international friends that are coming to visit me throughout the whole summer so there is definitely a lot to look forward to.

I have created an inspiring summer collage that will hopefully make all of you readers look forward to Summer as well. It's all about eating fresh food, being active, partying, and being with the ones you love!

What are all of your plans for this summer?

On a side note: Here is one of my all time favourite Summer songs that reminds of the days when I was young and didn't have a care in the world...

Sebastien Tellier - La Ritournelle

Oh nothing's going to change my love for you
I wanna spend my life with you
So we make love on the grass under the moon
No one call tell, damned if I do
Forever journey on golden avenues
I drift in your eyes since I love you
I got that beat in my veins for only rule
Love is to share, mine is for you

Montreal Fashion Week

The other night I had the pleasure of working PR/Guest List at the DUY fashion show at Montreal Fashion Week and ended up socializing and partying the night away watching several other shows and sipping champagne until midnight. I met an array of talented, creative, and fashionable individuals that night: jewelry designers, bloggers, fashion PR girls, writers, photographers, designers, models, etc. I love going and volunteering my time to events and productions where I can mingle and surround myself with other creative individuals who have the same interests as me. It definitely keeps me motivated and inspires me to strive to accomplish everything I want in life. Okay, enough of the sappy, cheesy, motivation talk and on to some of the photos I took that night of the shows and people I met.

On a side note: DUY's show was absolutely incredible!! He is such a down-to-earth, creative individual who is definitely gaining more and more attention from the press. He uses several contrasts between femininity and masculinity through the pairings of light, whimsical fabrics against heavy, edgy textures. To view the full collection and collections from previous seasons visit his website: DUY.

Going Through My Closet...

A typical Sunday afternoon for me consists of organizing all of the clothes, books, jewelry, and shoes that have been neglected on my floor throughout the busy week while sipping some Chai tea in my big San Francisco mug and listening to The Sheepdogs.

Here are a few of my favorite items I found in the piles of clothing that have been accumulating around my room:

In love with my new Sandro leather motorcycle jacket!

....also love it with this thick fur collar.

I don't usually like leopard prints BUT I find this sweater from Zara so cute. Couldn't resist buying it!

I've always loved denim shirts, I find them very rustic Ralph Lauren Americana (which is, as all of you readers already know is my favorite style) so I obviously had to buy yet another one to add to my denim shirt collection. However, this one is different because it's shorter in length, very fitted, the sleeves are extra long, the blue is SO intense, the shape and style of the pockets are more Western, and the denim is so incredibly thick it's phenomenal. Definitely one of the best denim shirts I've ever seen!

I've been sporting this wool braided outdoor headband almost every day in this cold Canadian weather. I love how large, warm, and cozy it is and the color is so pretty and goes well with everything.

I had been wanting these gloves for so long and had my eye on them at Club Monaco for months until one day they sold out, but thankfully I went back and I guess someone returned them because there was ONE pair left and they ended up being 50% off! The most beautiful leather gloves I have ever seen, couldn't be happier!

Emerald City by Jennifer Egan is a compilation of short stories which range in topics of fashion, traveling, photography, art, love, deceit, and desire. Her writing style is pleasant and captivating making these stories highly enjoyable and inspiring. Next up is A Visit from the Goon Squad which is also written by Egen.

Sh*t I Say..

This is so embarrassing, yet also amusing that I'm guilty of saying several of these lines in both of these 'Sh*t Girls Say' videos. There are so many out there now, but these two seem to be the funniest and the ones that give me the most deja vu moments. Enjoy :)

And don't lie...I know most of you readers out there are guilty too!!

Country Chic Inspiration

I have always had a love for the preppy, country, Ivy league, Ralph Lauren, Americana-Britania-esque classic style, but at this moment it is stronger than ever and I really just cannot get enough. I have created a sort of inspiration board depicting this style and also provided a 'how to' outfit that emulates this style. Right now the thing I want so so badly in my wardrobe is a Barbour jacket. It is my dream. Might I just add how envious I am of my brother who is living in Scotland at the moment. Oh how I wish to walk through the countryside dressed in forest greens, tweeds, and worn-out brown leather *sigh*.
