Here are some amazing photographs that my friend Peter took while a few of us woke up at 5am to go see Florence + The Machine for free in Central Park for Good Morning America. I loved her before, but now after seeing her it's just ridiculous how much I love her. She is extremely talented and the cutest, prettiest British girl with such an ethereal, whimsical, magical, nature-inspired, hippie look....I truly just love it.
I am finally settled here in New York City!! So far I'm having a really good time and catching up with some old friends and making some new friends.....still need to find a job, but for now I'm having a good time! I'm going to post some pictures of my graduation ceremony from Monday...it's a bit late but I loved the dress I wore by Sandro and my old Prada heels from a few years ago (never go out of style). AND I would like to introduce you all to my graduation gift....his name is David Yurman :)
I'm also going to post today some pictures of a FREE Florence + the Machine concert I went to this morning in Central Park for Good Morning America! Florence is just absolutely beautiful and so talented, she's one of my favourite artists and she definitely took my breath away this morning. So stay tuned for those pictures!
Today I plan on just going to the gym (it's raining here in New York, so I don't feel like doing much) and tonight I'm going for dinner and drinks at Butter (anyone recognize from Gossip Girl?). Very excited:)
I know I have not posted in quite a few days, but I'm really really stressed and busy with all that is happening this week. I'm working almost every day, I have my graduation ceremony/party Monday, and I'm leaving for New York (for an infinite amount of time) Tuesday morning...aaahhhh! Right now I'm in the midst of packing and last night I said farewell to my best friend (I won't be seeing her until she comes to visit me in New York at the end of August), so now it's starting to hit me that this is actually happening! I'm anxious, scared, ecstatic...basically a messy jumble of mixed emotions, but I know that in the end this will be an unforgettable experience.
For now I will leave you with a picture of the Tom Ford sunglasses I just purchased this week! A little graduation present I bought for myself....I think that's okay, right? I deserve it.....
I was going to buy Ray Bans, but then I spotted this beauty in a sea of high designer sunglasses. I put them on and instantly fell in love....I could imagine that the feeling was similar to that of finding your wedding dress. I just knew they were perfect for me. The color, the shape....everything just suits my face, skin colour, and hair colour. A match made in heaven. I would show a photo of me wearing them....but I look a bit nuts right now in my pj's, no makeup, and my hair in a bun (cut me some slack...I'm packing). But I will take a photo soon!
Ps. I love Tom Ford, forever and always.
I'm also really loving Oh Land's album...it's been on repeat for days.
Just popping in to say hi! I'm off to work, so I'm going to make this a quick post. I spent my early morning with my Moleskine's where I jot down ideas for this blog. The book on the left is my Sketchbook where I make collages (kind of like an inspiration book) and the one on the right is my notebook. The pen is my Lamy black lacquer fountain pen with plum ink and that's my blackberry!
I am wearing Club Monaco leggings, Urban Outfitters sheer cream top, Club Monaco necklace, and Marc Jacobs purse.
I just purchased a one way ticket to New York City!!! I am leaving in less than TWO weeks! Besides having a place to stay and a way of getting to NYC I have planned absolutely nothing else. Crazy? Yes. Spontaneous? Yes. How will I survive alone in the biggest city in the world? Well, I have an American citizenship so I plan on finding a job, I also have quite a few friends and family members in New York (my mom's from there), and I've lived in New York before for short periods of time so I'm used to it. In other words, I'm sure everything will work out just fineeee.
So now the biggest thing I have to worry about is: what do I wear? I'm kind of on a budget since I have to pay for living and food so I plan on shopping at Topshop and Flea Markets only (which isn't such a bad thing...). Ideally how I want to dress this summer, especially since summer in New York is very very very hot and I have no air conditioning where I am living, I want to wear very simple, light dresses, tops, shorts, and skirts. One brand that really emulates how I want to dress, but unfortunately is only available for purchase in Europe, is American Vintage. I've written a post before about American Vintage so I'm just going to show some outfits from their Summer '11 collection along with some other things I want to wear this summer!
I have completely fallen in love with these videos where someone walks around with a video camera and simply asks random people on the street what they are listening to. Doesn't necessarily sound too groundbreaking or anything BUT it's actually extremely interesting and hilarious to see a 40-something-year-old business woman listening to Lady Gaga for example. It's something I find really fascinating because you'd be surprised as to what some of the people are listening to based on how they look, their age, and their style. I feel like the way someone looks can only define them so much...but with music, well, I feel like that shows a deeper, truer part of who they are. The way someone dresses and presents themselves is the way they want people to perceive them, whereas with music no one knows what you are listening to and you're listening to the music for yourself and no one else. So what if I'm listening to some cheesy Abba song? No one will know...
Oh, hi...remember me? Unfortunately, I became a Tumblr addict and dismissed my relationship with Blogger because I was so engulfed in its overwhelming abundance of beautiful images. However, lately I can't stop thinking about the vibrant and creative affair I once had with this blog and I'm feeling nostalgic. I'm having an amazing time with Tumblr...posting a good ten times a day, but I'm usually left feeling empty inside. That's why I am going to try to make an effort to balance both relationships because I've realized that I need to have both in my life. Tumblr is inspiring, yet restricting and does not allow me to express myself fully, whereas Blogger is too self-absorbed and lacks some sort of external, visual imagination. This has led to my conclusive decision to commit myself fully (physically, mentally, spiritually, fashionably, creatively,...) to both of my relationships with Blogger and Tumblr.
Some things I should perhaps update you on about me (that is...if we want this relationship to work again):
- I have officially graduated from University with a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Art History - I have successfully kept up my New Year's Resolution of working out regularly and eating healthy (and it has paid off) - I am leaving for New York City in less than THREE weeks for a good THREE months. Why? To get away for a little bit and have some fun....work....save...party...and hang out with friends before facing the real world (eeeeek!).
Now I am going to do what I love to do on this blog and share with you some items I have picked out from my closet. Lately I am having a strong, overwhelming love for anything that is bohemian, but you know me, I am a true romantic at heart...both literally and fashionably. Therefore my look lately is Boho-Romantic, it's a term I basically came up with myself that embodies both my love for late 1960's/early 1970's natural, earthy, bohemian look (I secretly want to escape to the West coast to the oceans and mountains and live a simple life with some hippie lover and make jewelry all day) and the other side of me, that has always been present, which is the romantic look of jewels, frills, and lace where I picture myself in some Chateau in France reading Voltaire.
Hope you like it!
